Cat FAQs

I find that my kitten doesn’t respond well to certain cat foods, what should I do?

You have already completed a necessary step in pet ownership, and that is noticing the behavior of your animal. If your cat doesn’t respond well to a specific type of food, don’t feed them it. Just like certain humans are lactose intolerant, chances are there is something in the cat food that your kitten doesn’t like and is hard for them to process. Try different brands of food and switch between wet and dry food and see if that makes a difference; however, I suggest visiting a professional for a more accurate diagnosis if this issue doesn’t seem to resolve itself.

I feel bad leaving my cat at home cooped up all day, but am afraid that if I let her out one of the neighborhood dogs will get her, any suggestions?

I wouldn’t like to be cooped up inside all day either and I think that most people would agree with me. I suggest purchasing an outdoor cage for your cat. This allows her to receive the benefits of the outdoor air and to experience new and exciting sounds and smells, but offers her protections from external element as well. Make sure that the cage has access to shade and an adequate supply of food and water to avoid possible overexposure to nature’s elements.

I’ve always wanted a cat, but don’t know if I can afford it. Is there anywhere I can go that can help me?

First things first, it is absolutely necessary that you have enough money to properly care for a pet; however, there are a few things you can do to decrease the cost associated with owning an animal. Consider visiting a local shelter to purchase the cat. They are often less expensive than a private seller may offer, and it will be giving the cat the gift of life so they don’t have to be put down. Second, there are locations that offer discounted food and play toy items for purchase. I suggest researching the Internet to find potential deals; however, again it is important that you take into consideration possible visits to the vet, or other potential monetary investments before purchasing an animal.
